Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CSSYB) must know how to integrate Six Sigma methodologies for the improvement of production and transactional systems to better meet customer expectations and objectives of their organization. A Yellow Belt typically has a basic knowledge of Six Sigma, and they are often responsible for the development of process maps to support Six Sigma projects.

A Yellow Belt participates as a core team member or subject matter expert (SME) on six sigma projects. In addition, Yellow Belts may often be responsible for running small process improvement projects using the DMAIC methodology. These Yellow Belt projects often get escalated to the Green Belt or Black Belt level to maximize cost savings using Statistical Process Control. Six Sigma Yellow Belt training provides an introduction to process management and the basic tools of Six Sigma, giving employees a stronger understanding of processes, enabling each individual to provide meaningful assistance in achieving the organization's overall objectives.

Yellow Belts contribute to a company by playing a supportive role in the larger Six Sigma Process. They gather the correct data and enable other employees to gain knowledge and experience in the problem-solving process.


The CSSYB training program will enable employees to possess a more profound understanding of process and productivity improvement by using the six sigma methodology and tools. Yellow Belt has the ability of locating, controlling and implementing any opportunity for improvement in the company.

  • Module 2: Understanding Six Sigma 
  • Module 3: Business Process & Capability Analysis
  • Module 4: Data Collection and Analysis Using Minitab
  • Module 5: Statistics for Six Sigma
  • Module 6: DMAIC Methodology

SSYB Certification, Upon finishing the CSSYB training program, participants can become certified SSYB in one of two ways:

  • Passing the Jordan Academy for Quality Management (JAQM) SSYB certification exam. The exam is open book, and consists of 50 multiple choice questions. You are required to study all the material that will be discussed during the training course. Exam duration is 90 minutes. To pass the exam and to be yellow belt certified, you have to score 70% of the questions. The exam will be conducted after the training course and based on the examinee preferred time. The exam is available for course participants and other clients who seek SSYB certificate.
